This weekend, Zachary is getting ready to move out, and I’m practising a skill that does not come naturally to me: letting him figure it out.

I’m a planner. He’s firmly in the “I’ll figure it out, Mom” camp. You can imagine how that’s going. 😂

Thankfully, this week’s card came together with considerably less second-guessing!

One layout. Lots of paper possibilities.

If you’ve got Designer Series Paper you’d love to show off, this is a design to keep handy. Three vertical strips let the patterns shine, a band of coordinating cardstock brings everything together, and a little focal point finishes the card.

Why these colours work

The paper gives you your starting point. I used Crumb Cake, Early Espresso, and Cajun Craze to pick up colours already in the patterns.

Try this with your own paper: choose three coordinating prints, pull your cardstock colours from them, and keep the layout. Let the paper change the personality.

Your measurements

All measurements are in inches. Grab your paper trimmer and craft along with the video!

  • Crumb Cake card base: 4¼" × 11", scored at 5½"
  • Main vertical DSP strip: 2" × 5½"
  • Two additional vertical DSP strips: ¾" × 5½" each
  • Very Vanilla cardstock strip: ¾" × 5½" (optional)
  • Horizontal Early Espresso cardstock strip: ¾" × 4¼"
  • Horizontal Cajun Craze cardstock strip: ¾" × 5½"

Good evening, crafty friends! Yesterday was our first community crafting day, and I treated myself to something I don’t often get to do: sit down and make someone else’s card kit. I spend plenty of time preparing kits for others (and I love it! Obviously), so taking Kate’s sunflower class was a lovely change.
